"""-.ĪSCII Art - Geneator, converter, character picker But this can also be said for your legion once you start pimp the crap out of it, main difference being Legion laser sub needs a bit of improvements (+1gun and some tracking) to hit Tengu dps records that are very close to what a neutron blaster+high dmg Proteus does but at double the range of said proteus.`.` ──██─█╔══╗██▀▄╔══╗██─█── ██▀▄╔══╗██─█── On the other hand if you start fitting A-type MSB, crystals, combat boosters and OGB, ho dear. Without this it's just another T3 and rather weak one extremely fragile to long range webs and neuts, ok it shoots even without cap but wth, without tank it's just another pinata. Why is this? Is this because all Strategic Cruisers have a strong tank or is this something specific to a Tengu? Thanks Tengu only becomes a true pain in the ass once you add several improvements like A-type Sbs faction BCUs 100MN AB strong combat boosters+implants and of course the obvious OGB. I have heard on many separate occasions that the Tengu has a strong tank. But it's always been good to great at exploration (even if you have to - gasp - take it to low sec now) and the other T3s are coming in line with that role a bit.Īs far as Strategic Cruisers go, I have only ever used a Legion. As of now it's a gimmick for the most part. Except for certain blitz fits, it was never the best and it took a serious hit last December. The Tengu was never that great in missions. To the extent that I'm planning to switch over to the Legion for exploration, at least. I'm not saying that the Tengu's reign in missions is over per se, but I am willing to go out on a limb and say other T3s at least stand some chance in PvE now. Plus the range of the legion's lasers is no where near what I've heard you can get out of a Tengu. I was also looking at ships for PVE and missiles are just easy compared to having to flip crystals around or stay within a certain range and deal with tracking problems. I didn't realize shield tanking was so much better than armor tanking. Minmatar command ships can do the same tank as tengu-usually better. The modest boost it gets to active shield reps from one of the subsystem (one missioners like to use, but makes them gankable), only exacerbates the entire problem of active shield reps being OP compared to armor. It's not the tengu, it's the fact that it shield tanks. Then there are the shield boost amplifire mods. For instance, the medium pith shield rep, is rep-for-cap used, greater than even large and extra large mods-imagine being able to fit 2 large armor reps to a proteus, it would tank well too. ![]() The myth of the tengu tank comes from the shield boosting moduals, which have NO comparison to armor tank mods. Tengus are really only strong in limited placements, and PvE-lvl 4 missions, where they excell. Being that they are shield tankers to start, their 'tank' is not very useful for pvp, where buffer and HP seems to prevail over reps. Tengu's dont usually have trong tanks, atleast none of note, untill they start to get into the expensive mods.
